How Accurate are OKRanking.com's Basketball Rankings for 2011-12?

How Accurate are OKRanking.com's Basketball Rankings for 2011-12?
Since OKRankings.com was established as the official rankings by the OSSAA in 2007, our mission has been to provide the most reliable and accurate rankings in Oklahoma High School Sports. We have been able to accomplish this by meticulously studying data and evidence provided through past results to develop our current rankings system, which is essentially a "Coaches Poll."
Our rankings work by allowing all Oklahoma high school coaches to rank the different teams in their classification every week in their sport. Permitting the coaches to directly rank has proven to be the most reliable source for ranking teams by classification, which leads to a more accurate seeding in the playoffs.
Following our tradition, we have gathered all the results from the basketball season for each class going into the state tournament. After carefully calculating the data collected, the average accuracy of a Top Twelve Team from Class 6A-A making it to the finals of their Area Tournament is a strong 78.21%. This number is based on the voting participation of 87% of the coaches in all classes. Below is a chart which represents class accuracy and participation for the 2011-12 season.

Oklahoma Coaches- National Coaches of the Year
1/11/2012
On January 10, 2012 the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Association selected twenty high school coaches from across the country as 2011 National Coaches of the Year. The state of Oklahoma had two recipients on hand. In NFHS national award for boys, Jeffrey Doherty of Edmond North High School was given the award in boys golf. While, in NFHS national awards for girls, Oklahoma City's Heritage Hall High coach Dick Villaflor received the award in tennis.
The NFHS, which has been recognizing coaches through an awards program since 1982, honors coaches in the top 10 girls sports and top 10 boys sports (by participation numbers), and in one "other” category that is not included in these 20 categories. Winners of NFHS awards must be active coaches during the year in which they receive their award. This year's awards recognize coaches for the 2010-11 school year.

How Rankings Work
7/15/2011
All of the high school coaches in the state of Oklahoma are given an account on OKRankings.com. During their seasons, the coaches rank the different teams in their classification every week. The rankings from the coaches prove to be the most reliable source for ranking teams by classification, which leads to complete fairness in the seeding of the playoffs. The partnership that the O.S.S.A.A. has with OKRankings.com strives for the fairest competition in high school sports around the state. The entire process is transparent : Each coach can see how the other coaches rank them, and all have contact information to discuss issues that each other might not have known or considered in their ranking decisions.
