The Pirates return 16 starters & will have a different look with new Head Coach Greg Werner, the Pirates will be under center and in the I formation. The line will be solid with 4 returning starters(Troy Barnett, Trevor Shankle, Logan Hilderbrand, & Stephen Smith). The QB position is solid with Jr. Jace Pitchford calling the signals. The running back position will be a question mark with Sr Micheal Renolds & Jr Kaydon Evans looking to pace the Pirates at tailback. Senior Jay Werner adds a new dimension at tight end and the receiving core is solid returning Sr's Tyler Tustin and Blake Johnson and Jr. Jarett Lowrimore.
The defense returns 9 starters anchored by Jr's Carlos Aguilar and Kaydon Evans in the middle, up front Seniors Dylan Gregory, Troy Barnett, Devin Thompson, Derek Francis & Zack Hall return, the Secondary returns starters at safety, Sr. Blake Johnson, and corner back, Jr. Tyler Tustin. Outside Linebackers seem to be a concern with Michael Reynolds, Cord Lawrence, Lane Robertson & Jordan Key battling for the nod.
With a tough Non-district schedule and early district match-ups with Sallisaw and Fort Gibson, the Pirates need to get off to a quick start to get back in the playoffs in 2012.
